What is Deaf Awareness Week?
Deaf Awareness Week was started by the UK Council on Deafness. This year the emphasis is on breaking barriers, advocating for accessibility, and celebrating resilience. The project for 2025 Deaf Awareness Week is called “Beyond Silence”
Every year we celebrate Deaf Awareness Week to join in with the collective aim of raising awareness about the Deaf community, their language, culture and history.
We promote Deaf culture and equal access to communication and services for the Deaf and hard of hearing.
